Constructed in 1852, this home served as a residence and a doctor's office for Dr. William A. Upjohn, one of Hastings' first doctors. His nephew, William E. Upjohn, learned to be a doctor here and then moved to Kalamazoo to start his own practice. William E. invented the "Friable Pill" and started the Upjohn Pharmaceutical Co. It is now the home of the gift shop and administrative offices.
